We are currently looking for a Scientific & Regulatory Communications Manager.

In this role, your mission will be to architect and lead the implementation of strategic communication initiatives leading to enhanced understanding, embracement and acceptance of the role smoke-free products can play in reducing the externalities linked to nicotine use among the key public audiences. In a close collaboration with your colleagues from the External Affairs team, it will be your quest to provide an effective support to our scientific and regulatory outreach efforts towards various external audience including senior medical experts. You will hence be on point to create and execute initiatives that complement External Affairs’ activities in this field and that are relevant to and resonate well with the intended target audiences. Ultimately, you should support our efforts by adequately equipping the key external stakeholders with all necessary facts they may need to shape the environment for smoke-free nicotine-containing products and solutions.

In order to accomplish this, you will be responsible for building and nurturing a network of positive high-quality relationships with various relevant external stakeholders. Among others, this shall include interactions with senior-level counterparts on the side of various expert publications and other key relevant media. With them, you shall be responsible for creating, developing and managing powerful communication strategies and joint projects related to the fields of scientific and medical affairs in order to facilitate fact-based public discussion of the matter. However, your agenda shall not be limited only to maximizing a potential of our scientific evidence per se; simultaneously you shall advise and work closely with your colleagues when it comes to other External Affairs-related communication and outreach strategies and ensure they support their respective bilateral efforts.

Internally, you will be working closely with your colleagues from the Communications team responsible for the media relations overall as well as with the members of the External Affairs in charge of Science, Government affairs and Regulatory agendas. Primarily to them you should serve as a beacon when it comes to defining and executing any communication strategies and tactics that support any form of their contact with various key interlocutors.

At PMI, when it comes to science, regulation and innovation, we have a strong story to tell and many relevant facts to enlighten various audiences with. We count on you to help us convey the facts and evidence in a form of the right messages to the right decision and opinion makers who we believe—for the benefit of adult smokers—deserve to know. Therefore, this position is a key contributor to the PMI’s smoke-free vision and a successful colleague will be leveraging their existing strong personal network, be able to clearly articulate PMI’s transformation, science and innovation narratives and have a proven ability to invent and implement mutually beneficial and powerful joint communication strategies, projects and initiatives.

WHAT WILL BE YOUR ROLE:

Develop and execute expert media relations & strategic communications plan aligned to PMI’s global, EU and national-level objectivesWork closely with your colleagues responsible for the Scientific Engagement and Government Relations strategies and outreach and provide them with a reliable advisory capacity together with the communications aircover and assistance where and when applicable and neededApply your strong relationship-building skills to further develop your existing broad range of connections across various key external stakeholders and audiencesWork together with your expert media contacts, identify and tap into partnership opportunities that can help to broaden and deepen an understanding of our reduced-risk product portfolio as well as the science behind it towards the selected key public audiencesLead and coordinate a team of senior external consultants assisting PMI in this fieldEnsure an effective know-how transfer in your area of responsibility and, where applicable, manage an extension of relevant projects’ execution across the CZ/SK/HUMeasure and report the effectiveness of the programs and initiatives under your oversight

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR:

Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in Communications, Public or Corporate affairsProven track record in crafting partnerships with demonstrated leadership and in driving them to tangible successStrong ability to ‘translate’ the PMI’s key communications themes in order to be relevant to and understood by the relevant media and ultimately by the various intended audiencesEffectiveness while working under stress and ability to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job doneSkilled at working effectively with cross functional teams in a matrix organizationEnergetic, self-starter with strong work ethic and excellent track record of successExcellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills (fluent level both CZ and EN)Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s highly desirable

Someone who:

Possess a strong existing personal network across the Czech expert media market alongside with outstanding relationship-building skillsUnderstand and have an ability to connect PMI’s business, policy, science and corporate communications objectives on one side with themes that are relevant to the relevant media and hence ultimately to the Czech scientific & government elitesAble to invent or explore & evaluate as well as successfully deliver against new media and strategic partnership opportunitiesProven experience developing successful policy-related outreach programsKnow how to balance tactical vs. strategic and can develop long-term impact projects while ensuring a diligent follow-up on any short-term tasks.
